SUMMARY
Under supervision, this position keeps the Environmental Laboratory Building and work spaces cleaned and orderly; prepares rooms for meetings, keeps floors and restrooms clean; cleans as specifically trained and instructed, analytical laboratory workspaces and instruments in a three tiered work structure (1. Outer Surface Laboratory Cleaning 2. Selective Inner Surface Laboratory Cleaning 3. Specific Complex Instrument Cleaning); and performs minor mowing and edging of the Laboratory lawn during warm seasons.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sweeps, scrubs, strips and waxes floors.
- Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork.
- Restocks cleaning supplies.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles, washes windows and walls.
- Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
- Replaces all burned out light bulbs and reports any hazards found.
- Vacuums carpets and cleans return air vents for HVAC.
- Cleans sinks, commodes, lavatory, kitchen, lunchroom, etc.
- Puts deicer on sidewalks and performs limited sidewalk snow shoveling in the winter time.
- Mows grass, trims around sidewalks, trees, bushes, etc. Keeps fences clean, keeps parking lot and surrounding area clean and free of trash.
- Assists in solidification of household paint on an as needed basis, after documented training is completed.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Performs Laboratory Workspace and Instrument cleaning as prescribed in a three tiered structure. (The three tiers are: 1.Outer Surface Laboratory Cleaning 2.Selective Inner Surface Laboratory Cleaning 3.Specific Complex Instrument Cleaning).
- Attends specific training on the three cleaning sections, inclusive of knowledge of laboratory cleaning chemicals.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of one year of janitorial experience. Valid Texas Driver's License required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to operate or us a floor buffer, power stripper, brooms, vacuum cleaner, ladder, small hand tools, various lawn tools (powered and manual), laboratory cleaning chemicals and applicable safety equipment.
