An ideal candidate would have:
-At least one year of experience in a high-volume specialty coffee shop or restaurant
-Working knowledge of handcrafted pastry and foods
-Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide superlative customer service.
-An interest in learning and sharing knowledge about coffee, handcrafted foods and hospitality
-Flexible schedule with weekend availability
-A willingness to learn, provide and take constructive feedback
-An individual, regardless of race, age, country of origin, religion, gender identity, sexuality, or any other protected class who is committed to working dynamically with a diverse team in a fast pace and evolving environment
Job roles and responsibilities:
-Engage with guests with a Hospitality-first mindset
-Have a thorough understanding of ingredients & methods of preparation for all food and beverage menu items.
-Showcase proper knowledge regarding the current POS system
-Ability to take orders efficiently, including online/over-the-phone orders
-Assist with food running when necessary
-Maintain register flow at counter for service
-Restock & serve pastries, drip coffees, and tea
-Exhibit basic wine-by-the-glass knowledge reflecting Ellies menus
-Maintain proper table and floor maintenance when necessary and offer assistance with restocking & cleaning when needed
-Suggestively sell enhancements to any food or beverage order
-Communicate with the back of the house professionally and adequately should there be any issues with orders (allergies, POS not printing, questions, etc.)
-Evening availability is highly preferred Thursdays through Sundays
*Benefits health/dental/vision (after 90 days if full time), wellness perks, 401K eligibility, paid sick time and continuous food and beverage education along with discounted dining
*Continued education about coffee, beverages and wine
*Free access to continued barista education through our coffee purveyor New Harvest
