Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, ability to obtain Safe Serve Certification
Reports To: Kitchen Manager
Job Goal: To assist in providing an effective and efficient nutrition service program for North Tama County School District while serving delicious, nutritious meals in a clean, friendly atmosphere.
Performance Responsibilities:
1) Be prepared and available to begin work on or before the starting time designated on their individual contract. All work, including cleanup is to be completed by the ending time designated on their individual contract. Cooks are expected to be actively engaged with work at all times and may be asked to assist in the preliminary preparation of meals for the next day or assist other cooks with other tasks, as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
2) Wear appropriate uniforms as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
3) Lift food and cleaning supplies. Lifting will require occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and frequent repetitive lifting of lighter materials, as needed.
4) Possess sufficient mobility to access cooking and cleaning materials throughout the course of the workday. This may include, but is not limited to climbing to access materials from shelves or cabinets.
5) Work cooperatively with other food service personnel.
6) Be pleasant and friendly when working with students and other school personnel.
7) Maintain proper sanitary conditions to meet health codes, including the cleaning of utensils, equipment and facilities; assure the proper storage of food.
8) Prepare necessary inventory, sales and other reports.
9) Prepare and maintain records including factor sheets, daily cash receipts and associated work sheets. Assist students and staff members with lunch purchases via point of sale system.
10) Establish needed quantities; requisition foodstuffs and supplies; maintain inventory.
11) Other duties as assigned by the administration.
Compensation:
Salary is paid on actual hours worked. Hours identified on a part-time contract indicate hours generally worked per day. Daily workloads may vary and actual hours worked may be more or less on any given day, as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
