The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for managing outside contractors, providing technical assistance to the maintenance technicians and leading machine reliability improvement projects.
The Maintenance Engineer must work closely with the Production, Quality and Sanitation Teams to assure equipment and facilities operate as needed to achieve production goals. This role will potentially transition into a Maintenance Supervisor role, adding in the responsibility of supervising the team of maintenance mechanics and electricians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Improve equipment performance and reliability through small non-capital projects
- Analyze major equipment downtime events using RCA process
- Co-chair the daily preventative maintenance (DPM) team
- Diagnose equipment and facility problems alongside the maintenance team
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities, as needed
- Support the installation of new equipment
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventative maintenance programs
- Provide guidance and solutions to mechanics and the production team
- Participate aa a team member on a safety committee
- Team orientation, which includes the ability to work positively and productively with individuals at all levels of the Maintenance Department and the Company
- Ensure that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP's) are developed and maintained for all aspects of the department
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and other government regulations with regards to equipment safety and maintenance, employee training, etc.
- Assist with Maintenance Department strategic planning
- Management and leadership of continuous improvement projects/programs
- Work closely with Operations and Engineering teams
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or chemical) required
- Food manufacturing maintenance experience preferred
- Project management experience for small non-capital project preferred
- The ability to effectively use Excel, Word, and CMMS required
- AutoCAD experience preferred
- Oregon journeyman or supervisor electrical license preferred
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude required
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, set priorities to meet deadlines, handle multiple projects and make decisions under pressure
- Strong leadership, communication and administrative skills
- Must be detail oriented
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
- Position may require repetitive movement, bending and twisting, using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, ladders and powered industrial vehicles. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to safely move around in the production area (under, over and around production line equipment) and be able to pick up, lift, stack and/or move various objects and containers of up to seventy pounds.
- Able to work in an environment containing nuts, peanuts, dairy, grains and other allergens
- Must be available for all shifts, nights, weekends, some holidays, occasional overtime, if necessary
- Weekend and holiday work will be mandatory with rotating responsibilities for assisting with emergency repairs, plant preventative and work order-based maintenance activities
