Part Time Groundskeeper

Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of parks, grounds, and buildings. Reports to the Operations Supervisor or Horticulturist. Position will run from April through October.

Mows and maintains parks, streetscapes, beautification areas, public building grounds and highway right of ways. Cleans and maintains tennis courts, parking lots, playgrounds, sidewalks and boardwalks.

Carries out the seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering, pest and weed control of parks and open spaces.

Pull and spray weeds around trees and all shrub and flower beds in accordance with the Department of Pesticide Regulation. Maintains application records.

Installs turf, trees, shrubs, and flowers.

Installs and maintains benches, picnic tables, signs and other amenities in parks and beautification areas.

Picks up and disposes of litter, paper, and rubbish from parks, playgrounds, public building grounds, streetscapes, highway right of ways, sidewalks and beautification areas.

Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Must have a valid state drivers license or the ability to obtain one. Must have a valid South Carolina Pesticide Applicator License (Category 3) or the ability to obtain one.
