Description

The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for Residential Dining Barista, Part-time in the Marketplace Cafe. This is a part-time, non-benefited position that will work no more than 29 hours per week, 960 hours per fiscal year. The base pay range is $21.23 to $21.25/hour; placement in range is dependent upon experience. The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 3:00pm to 9:00pm. The schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.

The Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU,Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. With an annual budget of more than $21M, the AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union, the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), and administers the contract for the Wildcat Store (bookstore). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Sustainability and student government. Typically, the AS employs more than 100 full and part-time employees and more than 750 students.

RESIDENTIAL DINING BARISTA, PART-TIME

SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Wildcat Den Supervisor, the Dining Services Barista is responsible for preparing food and beverages, providing excellent customer service, and supporting the operations and administrative functions of Dining Services. The role ensures compliance with health, safety, and personnel policies while contributing to the success and reputation of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Food Preparation and Service

Prepare hot and cold food and beverages according to customer specifications.

Ensure the use of proper sanitation and safety standards in all food preparation and handling.

Customer Service

Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner upon entry.

Take and process customer orders efficiently and accurately.

Represent Associated Students Dining Services to the campus community, other organizations, and the public.

Operational Oversight

Monitor and enforce operational policies and procedures as established by Dining Services management.

Track inventory levels using the POS system to ensure product availability and assess the desirability of items sold.

Regularly update the Wildcat Den Supervisor on operations, personnel, and administrative matters.

Assist in the development and selection of new menu items based on customer preferences and operational needs.

Support the implementation of short- and long-range plans to meet evolving customer demands.

Policy Compliance and Personnel

Ensure compliance with all personnel policies and procedures.

Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act and is required to comply with the requirements of this designation. Training is required and will be provided.

Other Duties

Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of Dining Services and the Wildcat Den.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Principles and methods of preparing espresso and blended drinks.

Operation, maintenance, and use of espresso machine, bean grinder, drip brewers and related coffee equipment.

Food service sanitation and safety.

Customer relations methods and techniques.

Food preparation and presentation.

Inventory management.

Basic mathematics and cashiering.

Food service sanitation and safety.

Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the production functions in a high-volume setting.

Establish and maintain high quality food standards.

Analyze food production, developing methods to achieve goals.

Ensure that food quality and selection meet the needs of the campus community.

Maintain records and prepare reports.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community, general public, co-workers, and those contacted during the course of work.

The incumbent shall work well under pressure: meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.

The incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

One (1) year full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a supervisory position in retail food service or coffeehouse environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a current ServSafe Managers Certification or equivalent; possession of or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire a Food Handlers card.

Post-offer, pre-employment physical.
