Part-Time Barista

The Dot, a local cafe run by Maps Credit Union, is located in our beautiful High Street Branch near downtown Salem, Oregon. The goal of the cafe is to engage with our members in new ways and to tell the story of our community giveback and charitable arm, Maps Community Foundation. Our Baristas contribute to this goal by providing warm and engaging member service while also serving quality beverages, food products, and services. The ideal candidate for this role is self-motivated and able to work independently as a solo barista.

Key responsibilities of the Barista include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as the main representative of The Dot cafe, maintaining consistent and punctual attendance, with the ability to open and close the cafe.
• Establish rapport with all customers to deliver excellent customer service.
• Prepare hot and cold beverages and ready-made food items.
• Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, and rotating. Store and maintain records of all products.
• Properly handle all cafe equipment and ensure equipment is maintained. Escalate maintenance concerns as needed.
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards and ensure that established food safety regulations/guidelines are followed. Uphold optimal cleanliness of work area and cafe.
• Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
• Enhance customer experience by uncovering customer needs in relation to products and services offered by Maps and its subsidiary (CUSO) companies.
• Support the Community Outreach and Maps Community Foundation departments during events held in the cafe.

The ideal candidate will have the highest level of ethical behavior and a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of customer service, cash handling, and food service experience is required. Must possess a valid Food Handlers Card or be able to obtain the card within 30 days of hire. Must be bondable and pass a pre-employment background check.

Non-exempt Pay Range: $18 - $21.00 per hour, plus tips.

Part-time work schedule: Monday and Tuesday 10AM-3PM, Wednesday 8AM-1PM, Thursday and Friday 7:30AM-4:15PM ( 27 hours per week). Availability to cover other shifts as needed is a plus.

The Dot is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
