About This Role:
The Custodian position performs routine janitorial, custodial, and housekeeping functions for the care and cleanliness of all County buildings and facilities involving semi-skilled custodial and heavy manual labor.
Some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, chemicals, and equipment; some knowledge of safety and effective use of chemicals; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to get along well with others.
Custodian Duties include the following:
Collecting and removing all trash, replace all cans liners.
Disinfect and clean toilets, sinks and restock all paper and soap dispensers!
Vacuuming carpet areas, and spot clean as needed
High and low dusting through
Dust, mop, and damp mop all hard surface floors.
Operates all different types of floors and carpet machines.
Stripping and waxing tile floors.
Clean mirrors, windows and window blinds
Disinfect and clean holding cells.
Arrange rooms, set up furniture, and perform related tasks for special events.
Prepare a daily list of supplies that are needed for each day
Reports any problem within your work assigned areas.
Dusts and/or polishes chairs, tables, shelves and other furniture or equipment.
Empty and remove all recyclable from the various labeled containers.
Performing routine maintenance of custodial equipment such as belt or bag preplacement, emptying collection bags cleaning and providing proper storage of equipment.
Locks and unlocks, building doors and windows.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
8th grade education and 0-12 months of related experience.
Preferences:
- Knowledge of basic principles of industrial cleaning methods and supplies. Experience with floor maintenance techniques, to include equipment used in process. (Floor scrubbers and buffers as well as extraction machines)
- Practical experience using a chemical dispensing system
- Good knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Special Requirements:
- Must pass a pre-employment physical exam.
- Must have a valid Drivers License.
- Background Checks which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or Finger printing.
37.5 hours be 4:00PM to 12:00PM., Monday through Friday.
Starting Salary Range :
$17.99 to $24.62 per hour
