POSITION SUMMARY :
Leads a team of Environmental Services Technicians (Housekeepers) that perform routine housekeeping and service work in a university environment. Ensures that all assigned work areas are maintained in a clean and tidy manner. Work areas include, but are not limited to, dormitories, classrooms, gymnasiums, and offices. Work performed must meet standards of quality and is reviewed for thoroughness, neatness, and general effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Assists with scheduling cleaning assignments, training, motivating and organizing the Environmental Services staff.
- Ensures duties assigned are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Performs routine duties for general housekeeping, appearance, and upkeep on a scheduled and regular basis.
- Provides feedback to the Director of Plant Operations regarding the performance of the Environmental Services staff.
- Assists with maintaining accountability of all equipment and orders to supply the Environmental Services Department.
- Assists with safety training to ensure staff is knowledgeable regarding Safety Data Sheets, proper usage of chemicals, and equipment.
- Assists with annual inspection and inventory of all equipment / products for accountability and budgetary needs.
- Duties may include, but are not limited to, cleaning/sanitizing spaces, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, emptying trash, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, waxing floors, carpet shampooing, cleaning stairwells, and keeping restrooms stocked with supplies.
- Conducts spot checks of all mechanical and utility equipment to locate problems and report them.
- Performs turnovers in preparation for summer groups. This includes, in addition to the duties mentioned above, making beds and passing out linens and supplies.
- Available for occasional call back / unscheduled overtime, if needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess good written and verbal skills for effective communication.
- Must be able to lift, push a housekeeping cart, and stand for long periods.
- Tolerate cleaning chemicals.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Experience overseeing multiple priorities and project management skills, preferred.
- Understanding of OSHA and SDS rules and regulations, preferred.
