Outdoor Groundskeeper
Location: Ashland Family YMCA, Ashland, OR
Job Type: Part-Time
Reports To: Facilities and Maintenance Director
Pay: $15-20/hour depending on experience

Position Summary:
The Outdoor Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and
aesthetic quality of all outdoor areas at the Ashland Family YMCA. This position plays a key role
in providing a welcoming and safe environment for our members, guests, and staff by ensuring
our grounds and outdoor recreational spaces are well-maintained year-round.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform daily inspections of outdoor areas including lawns, playgrounds, parking lots,
walking paths, and recreation spaces.
Mow lawns, trim hedges, and maintain trees/shrubs to ensure a neat and attractive
appearance.
Remove litter, debris, and fallen branches; empty outdoor trash and recycling bins
regularly.
Maintain playground equipment, picnic tables, benches, fences, and other outdoor
fixtures to ensure safety and usability.
Clear walkways of snow, ice, or leaves as appropriate to season; apply de-icing agents
as needed.
Coordinate with Facilities Director to report needed repairs, landscaping improvements,
or safety concerns.
Operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment such as mowers, blowers, trimmers,
and hand tools.
Assist with setup and takedown for outdoor YMCA programs and events, including
moving tables, signs, or sports equipment.
Comply with all safety procedures and YMCA policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance preferred
Ability to operate lawn care and maintenance tools and equipment safely.
Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motions such as bending, reaching,
and walking for extended periods.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently with minimal
supervision.

Working Conditions:
This role involves consistent outdoor work in varying weather conditions. The candidate must be
comfortable working on uneven terrain and occasionally in high-noise or high-traffic
environments. PPE and training will be provided where applicable.
