Night Leader Custodian
Mullen Hall School and Administration Building
2nd Shift (2:30pm to 6:30pm at Mullen Hall, 7pm to 11pm at Admin)
12 months per year - 40 hours per week
2025-2026 School Year
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in performing and/or supervising electrical, plumbing, carpentry repairs and preventative plant maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability in providing leadership to other custodians as well as maintaining good rapport with public, school officials, staff and students.
- Ability to use online/technology systems to operate maintenance equipment, including: furnace, tools, alarm systems, emails, online training, etc.
- Such other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- On a regular basis, serve in the capacity of working foreman.
- Specifically direct and, as necessary, perform daily building check functions including, but not limited to, the following:
- Sweep, mop and dust floors, stairs, classrooms, shop and assembly area, lavatories, furniture and outside steps; collect trash, empty wastebaskets, fill barrels; check roof for debris; wash windows, glass doors, tables, blinds and walls; take care of vending machine supplies; wash, strip, wax and polishes floors by powered equipment; check all lavatories, clean fixtures, replace soap and paper products; vacuum rugs, carpets, and drapes; check and inspect fire extinguishers; remove stains and spillage; remove ice/snow from walks and steps; check for fire hazards and water damage; replace broken lights and damaged hardware; temporarily board up broken windows; operate boiler room and electrical switches, when necessary; train subordinates in same; occasional lifting and moving of furniture.
- Respond and comply with special work requests.
- Monitor stocks of janitorial supplies and initiate the ordering of additional supplies to restock, when needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance/repair on damaged items daily.
- Overhaul, clean and repair equipment routinely.
- Coordinate shift transitions with Head Custodian.
- Work with outside groups, as needed, related to public functions in building.
- Respond to and report to work for building emergencies, as needed. These situations could include responding to alarms, snow removal, water leak cleanup and any other emergency situation that may occur.
- Building Checks will be performed between Thanksgiving and April 1st
- Perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
SALARY: In accordance with the Custodian contract.
