Summary

Essential Functions

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

  • Oversee service and ensure guest satisfaction. Greet and interact with all guests during their meal. Execute tableside service.
  • Prepare drink and food orders. Ensure that all staff understand and uphold service standards. Inspect floor area for proper set-up with special attention to private parties, VIP dinners, and group functions.
  • Ensure that all staff understand and uphold service standards. Communicate with the outlet manager relative to training and promotions.
  • Handle guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner. Follow through with all opening and closing procedures. Assure proper maintenance of all service equipment.

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company:

  • Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor to adhere to health standards.
  • Supplement the bus help in clearing and resetting the tables.
  • Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking side stands.
  • Perform other duties as requested, such as answering the telephone and taking room service orders, handling special guest requests, and greeting and seating guests according to Resort guidelines.
  • Attend required meetings.

Internal Relationships

Reports to General Manager of Restaurant

External Relationships

Has regular contact with Members and Guests.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years fine dining food and beverage service captain experience
  • Must have excellent knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions
  • Professional presentation and positive attitude
  • Excellent knowledge of POS system
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Open availability; must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Education/Experience Requirements

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
  • Ability to understand and communicate English to comprehend and respond to basic guest requests. Ability to understand written English to read any caution or safety notices.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, transport up to 50 lbs. through a crowded room.
  • Ability to move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 200 lbs.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs and ensure that service meets/exceeds expectations to ensure a memorable and pleasant dining experience.
  • Inspect dining room, table settings, chairs, floors, proper maintenance, cleanliness and safety.
  • Receive and greet members’ guests; assist with seating if necessary.
  • Check tables throughout service times for Member satisfaction, resolve guest issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu and presentation standards and sound knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
  • Has a very good understanding of all beverage and wine related items pertaining to this restaurant

Physical Requirements

Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
