Bistro Nineteen, the new restaurant at Legacy Golf Course at the 19 in Mason City, is seeking an experienced Line Cook. This exciting dining destination is designed to offer exceptional culinary experiences for golfers and guests alike. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and finishing food on one of the stations in the kitchen while maintaining high standards of quality set by the Head Chef. This key role involves cooking and plating dishes, ensuring cleanliness, adhering to food safety standards, and working efficiently in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and enjoys working as part of a team in a restaurant setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks according to the Head Chef’s recipes and specifications.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down your station at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring all prep work is completed and ingredients are ready.
  • Maintain the high level of food quality and presentation established by the Head Chef, ensuring that every dish meets our standards.
  • Keep work areas and equipment clean and sanitized throughout the shift. Follow proper food safety and sanitation protocols, including food handling, labeling, and storage.
  • Discard spoiled or outdated ingredients and minimize food waste by following portion control and storage procedures.
  • Quickly adapt to changes in orders or instructions from the Head Chef or Sous Chef and ensure timely execution during high-volume service.
  • Work closely with teammates and servers to ensure orders are completed on time and according to guests’ requests. Communicate clearly with the kitchen team and managers.
  • Wash and clean kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring that the kitchen is cleaned at the end of each shift. Assist in stocking, labeling, dating, ordering, and receiving inventory.
  • Follow all health and safety standards, including food safety regulations and OSHA requirements, to ensure a safe and compliant kitchen environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements & Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting preferred.
  • Clear understanding of the English language (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety procedures.
  • Availability on weekends is required, as well as on holiday when the restaurant is open.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Ability to work in hot, humid, and potentially fast-paced conditions.
  • ServSafe Certified or willing to obtain certification before starting.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations is a plus.
  • Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
