Custodian - Anderson Academy Charter School

Location: Winston-Salem, NC, on-site

Schedule: Part-time or Full-Time Typical hours are 1st shift, Monday-Friday, with some weekend/evening hours depending upon events/program needs. The school day for students will be 8:00am to 3:00pm. Onsite, school-based position, flexibility required to travel occasionally for necessary meetings. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including potential evening shifts

Hiring Range: $15.30 - $17.30/hour

Education/Experience/Licensure:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of two years custodial, housekeeping, and/or maintenance experience preferred.
• Previous custodial experience in an educational setting is preferred.

• Custodial services and facility maintenance
• Floor care (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, waxing)
• Basic repair and maintenance (changing bulbs, fixing minor issues)
• OSHA safety compliance and chemical handling knowledge
• Inventory management of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Time management and ability to work independently
• Adaptability and problem-solving
• Dependability and strong work ethic
• Teamwork and professional communication
• Physical stamina for lifting, bending, and extended standing
• Valid driver's license and willingness to drive agency vehicles

Job Duties:

Cleaning & Maintenance

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, and shared spaces
• Perform floor care tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and waxing
• Remove trash and sanitize high-touch surfaces
• Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance

Safety & Security

• Secure buildings and work areas at the end of shifts
• Address hazards proactively and respond to emergency maintenance
• Follow OSHA safety procedures and agency safety policies

Equipment & Supplies

• Maintain cleaning equipment and follow chemical safety protocols
• Track and restock supplies as needed

Administrative & Collaboration

• Report maintenance concerns to school leadership
• Uphold professionalism in all student and staff interactions
• Support energy conservation efforts and promote a respectful campus environment
