Looking for a barista to join us, 5 DAYS A WEEK - $23/h tips included

Jola Cafe strives to be our neighbors favorite spot. After 10 years in the SW Portland neighborhood of Johns Landing, our passion continues to be to serve our neighbors high quality coffee, food, beer and wine in a friendly, approachable environment. We serve Coava Coffee. We're looking for an enthusiastic and engaged person to join our team. The ideal barista is someone who is passionate about coffee, food and creating incredible guest experiences grounded in respect, empathy, and recognition. Minimum 1 yearmitment.

Wages>minimum wages $16/h with an additional $7 to $8 an hour in tips,

You will:

-Deliver impeccable hospitality to our guests and your fellow teammates.

-Work in a team to dial in and serve delicious coffees.

-Expedite and serve delicious sweet and savory food created by our talented culinary team.

-Stay knowledgeable about JOLA s current coffee and food offerings through tastings, cuppings and information provided to you by your Manager, Kitchen Manager and Co-Workers.

-Regularly taste your and others coffee drinks to ensure quality, uphold our standards, and keep developing your coffee palate.

-Support your team in keeping the cafe running smoothly and beautifully. These tasks may vary but can include washing dishes, clearing dishes, sweeping, dusting, keeping your work area clean, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning andanizing condiment station, and taking out trash.

-Do opening and closing shifts.

You are:

-Hard working and passionate about coffee, food and creating hospitality experiences.

-A professional, you are serious and take pride about your work.

-Reliable and consistent. Your manager and teammates can always depend on you to be punctual, looking sharp in accordance with our dress code, and bringing your A game.

-Obsessed with the details! You love honing your craft and understand each cup of coffee and each plate of delicious food for its individual potential.

-Dedicated to your team and your guests you understand and value empathy and use it to guide interactions on and off the job.

-Experienced working quickly and accurately in a fast-paced food service job.

-Skilled with Barista Techniques: Steaming milk & pouring latte art is a must. IF you show promise and meet or exceed all other requirements and we think you are a good fit, we will help refine your skills.

-Full of stamina, strength & endurance. It can be very busy, standing for long periods and you must be able to lift at least 50 lbs on occasion.

You have:

-Existing OR Food Handler s Certification or certification within 30 days post-hire.

-Existing OLCC Server Permit orpletion within 45 days post-hire.
