POSITION SUMMARY- Prepare food items for cafe, patients, coffee shop, catering, and MOW.
- Use standardized recipes according to production sheets and proper food handling techniques and sanitation guidelines.
- Replenish food items during meal preparation.
- Prepare food items in advance (e.g., chopping of vegetables, thawing meats, etc.).
- Clean and sanitize work area and work tables.
- Clean and sanitize equipment following cleaning schedules and sanitation guidelines.
- Shut down equipment by turning off all equipment in use in the area (e.g., ovens, fryers, steamer, etc.).
- Activate the ventilation system nightly.
- Provide service to the customers in the cafeteria and catering service as required.
- Test new recipes.
- Prepare required items for catering functions (e.g., hors doeuvres, platters, sandwiches, salads, hot foods). Set up the food and deliver it.
- Check temperatures of food products prior to service to ensure appropriate serving temperatures.
- Collect samples of food products that were prepared and stored in the refrigerator for auditing/testing purposes.
- Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Criminal Record Check (Essential)
- Cook Apprenticeship Certificate Program (Essential)
- Provincial designation as a qualified cook (Essential)
- Minimum 6 months of related experience (Essential)
- Comprehensively use kitchen equipment (Essential)
- Take steps to ensure timely completion of tasks by adjusting priorities as required (Essential)
- Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing(Essential)
- Deal effectively with internal and external customers (Essential)
- Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation; general knowledge of corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to health and safety. (Essential)
- Bilingualism (French and English) (Preferred)
- Physical strength sufficient to correspond to job requirements (Essential)
This assignment may be extended or shortened based on operational needs.

RESUME DES FONCTIONS
- Preparer de la nourriture pour le Cafe, les patients, le service de traiteurs et la PR.
- Utiliser des recettes standardisees selon les demandes de production, les procedures sanitaires et les techniques appropriees de manipulation des aliments.
- Voir a la disponibilite des ingredients necessaires pendant les preparations des repas.
- Preparer de la nourriture a lavance (p. ex., decouper des legumes, decongeler de la viande, etc.).
- Nettoyer les zones et les tables de travail.
- Nettoyer et expurger les equipements suivant les horaires de nettoyage et les procedures sanitaires.
- Fermer et eteindre tout equipement utilise (i-e les fours, les friteuses, etc.)
- Activer le systeme de ventilation chaque nuit.
- Fournir des services aux clients de la cafeteria et des services de traiteur, si necessaire.
- Essayer de nouvelles recettes.
- Preparer les articles de restauration necessaires i-e des hors duvres, des plats, des sandwiches, des salades, des aliments chauds).
- Installer la nourriture et la servir.
- Verifier les aliments avant de les servir afin de sassurer de leur bonne temperature de consommation.
- Prelever des echantillons de produits alimentaires prepares et stockes dans le refrigerateur aux fins dinspection et de test.
- Accomplir son travail selon les reglements de la Loi sur la sante et la securite au travail et de toutes les procedures et les politiques generales/departementales du CHEO liees a la sante et la securite au travail.
- Accomplir dautres taches assignees par le superviseur ou la superviseure.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Verification du casier judiciaire (VCJ)(Essentiel)
- Certificat de formation en cuisine (Essentiel)
- Reconnaissance de la qualification de cuisinier/cuisiniere par la province (Essentiel)
- Un minimum de 6 mois dexperience dans le domaine (Essentiel)
- Savoir utiliser tous les equipements de cuisine (Essentiel)
- Savoir delivrer ses taches a temps en ajustant ses priorites, si necessaire.(Essentiel)
- Communiquer efficacement et de maniere concise oralement et par ecrit (Essentiel)
- Echanger de maniere efficace avec les clients internes et externes (Essentiel)
- Bilinguisme (Preferable)
- Connaissance pratique de la legislation sur la sante et la securite au travail ; connaissance generale des procedures et des reglements generaux et departementaux lies a la securite et la sante. (Essentiel)
