Title: Day Porter - FacilitiesClassification: Grade 3Reports to: Facilities DirectorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptEffective Date: 6/26/2025Union Status: N/ASummaryPerforms a wide variety of facilities routine cleaning and provides support for events such as set up and coverage as needed. Performs all other work as required.Essential Functions(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)Performs custodial duties including, but not limited to mopping and sweeping floors, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, disinfecting, emptying trash, glass cleaning, polishing, etc.Works closely with other facilities staff and the Facilities Director to coordinate and ensure proper coverage for daily facilities operations and events.Assists with events setup, breakdown and clean-up.Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or vocational school; experience in the use of floor cleaning/buffing/finishing equipment preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess or be willing to complete training for handling Asbestos.Knowledge, Ability, SkillKnowledge: General knowledge of cleaning materials and methods. Working knowledge of equipment such as floor maintenance equipment and other maintenance equipment. Knowledge of DES and NH DOE and other facilities standards.Ability: Ability to plan and prioritize work and be self-motivated. Ability to perform multiple tasks in a timely manner. Ability to follow safe work practices. Ability to implement applicable department regulations, policies, and procedures.Skills: Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Basic computer skills. Skill in the proper use of cleaning and maintenance equipment.Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Facilities Director.Exercised: None.Responsibility: Performs varied and responsible duties requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative particularly in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures. Job EnvironmentWork is performed both indoors and outdoors at which time the employee may be exposed to weather extremes of hot and cold temperatures and inclement weather. Work environment is moderately noisy. Operates equipment to include floor maintenance equipment, hand and power tools and other custodial equipment. May be required to wear protective clothing and mask.Contacts are by phone, through correspondence, and in person; they generally consist of an information exchange dialogue, discussing routine and semi-complex issues.Makes occasional contacts with teachers, students, and co-workers. Contacts involve discussing very routine information.Errors could result in delay or loss of services, damage to equipment, injury to self and others.Physical Requirements(The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Moderate to heavy physical effort is often required to perform functions which involves occasionally lifting of up to 40 pounds. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms, crawls, and climbs.
