The Admissions Team acts as ambassadors of customer service, working to provide Zoo Guests with a memorable and seamless experience. Seasonal Guest Service Representatives (GSRs) provide information and assist Zoo Guests with ticket purchases at the Main Gate. In addition to ticket sales, Greeters are responsible for assisting Guests upon entering or exiting the Zoo, as well as monitoring re-entry. Admissions staff members will rotate through various Zoo attractions, including Giraffe feeding, Carousel, Stroller rentals and other venues as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists guests in a friendly and positive manner regarding Zoo offerings, prices, information and directions.
- Provides information and directions to guests concerning the Zoo mission, rules and events. Assists in answering questions from guests concerning general knowledge of procedures, locations, and information.
- Operates computer, radios, phones, and other office equipment in an efficient and effective manner.
- Provides consistent and exceptional internal and external guest service per established guidelines.
- Remain productive and efficient when maintaining performance accuracy.
- Monitors all areas to ensure a safe and secure environment and reports problems to supervisors; may require intervention with public to assist and resolve guest issues.
- Ensures work areas are presentable and free of debris.
- Project a professional image while in uniform and when using the radio.
- Comfortable giving and receiving performance feedback from supervisors and guests.
- Contributes to saving animals in the wild through reduction of waste, water and energy use and inspiring guests and staff to take wildlife protecting actions
- Greets and assists guests in a friendly and positive manner regarding Zoo offerings, prices, rules, directions, and additional information such as events or activities.
- Must portray an attitude of invitation while engaging with guests and their children, offering them a fond farewell after each interaction.
- Must be adept at handling guest inquiries in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while efficiently processing ticket media.
- Monitors all areas to ensure a safe and secure environment and reports problems to supervisors; may require intervention with public to assist and resolve guest issues.
- Facilitate operations at the Wildlife Carousel, Giraffe Feeding, Water Play Park & Special Events or other attractions in a safe, friendly manner.
- Ensure accurate attendance records are captured through effective use of various scanning devices or other tracking methods.
- Ensures that guest items are meeting zoo regulations upon entrance, prevents zoo property from leaving zoo grounds.
- Meets departmental expectations regarding attendance policy and work readiness.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma / GED
- One to Three Months relevant work experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
- Ability to partner across teams and with all levels of staff
Work Hours
- Variable schedule with rotating shifts, weekends and holidays required
