Job Summary: The role of Maitre D is responsible for welcoming each guest kindly and energetically. It is expected that the Maitre D lead the team of greeters by setting an example, training and frequent encouragement. The team of greeters are the first employees a guest will encounter, it is vital that the Maitre D trains and equips the team of greeters with the necessary skills to provide an exceptional first impression.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive and coordinate reservations to assign the corresponding tables
- Welcome and greet patrons at the entrance of the dining room, restaurant, or lounge according to company standards, and escort them to their assigned tables or other seating areas while their table is prepared
- Always maintaining a pleasant and welcoming environment for the guests' enjoyment, ensuring the best dining experience, so that they always come back for the first-class service
- Thank and Greet guests with genuine appreciation before they leave.
- Maintain positive guest relations
- Create seating charts
- Lead and train greeter team
- Arrange for the replacement of dining room cutlery and other supplies, as necessary
- Attend staff meetings
- Be familiar with the menus of the restaurant and be able to highlight items for guest
- Maintain complete knowledge of table and seat numbers, proper table set ups
- Guide servers and bus persons in table set-up
- Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently
- Seat guests, provide them with the menu and information about the restaurant.
- Obtain beverages for guests if server is busy
- Monitor service load throughout outlet and seat incoming parties accordingly
- Extend courteous departures as guest leave
- Complete closing duties as assigned & restock supplies
- Care of inventory, as well as inspecting both the dining area and the equipment in use
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs
- Ability to read write and speak, and communicate in basic English preferred
- Experience in customer service is strongly preferred
- At least 2 years previous experience as a lead Host/Greeter
- Previous experience in a fast-paced restaurant
- Proficient experience with computer operations and Microsoft Office
