Reporting to the Supervisor, Environmental Services, this position is responsible for performing various cleaning tasks, movement of equipment and furniture, and floor care maintenance to provide patients, visitors and health sciences staff with a safe and clean environment by maintaining standards of cleanliness, sanitation and freedom from hazards and infections. Position Summary: Reporting to the Supervisor of Environmental Services, this position is responsible for performing various cleaning tasks, relocating equipment and furniture, and maintaining floor care to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. This is achieved by upholding high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and freedom from hazards and infections. Work Schedule: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM with rotating weekends. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Completes required training and ongoing education, including department-specific requirements. Complies with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements necessary to protect against exposure to blood, other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances. Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas. Cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, and vacant apartments; scrubs walls, dusts, cleans, and vacuums furniture, fixtures, doors, and related furnishings using appropriate cleaning supplies. Cleans common areas, offices, public restrooms, exercise rooms, teen rooms, arts and crafts rooms, dining areas, and other spaces used by patients, parents, and staff. Operates and maintains industrial vacuums and equipment for carpet and upholstery shampooing. Removes waste bags and containers. Cleans restrooms, locker rooms, lounges, storage rooms, toy rooms, administrative offices, windows, all plaza common areas, equipment rooms, and closets; ensures rooms are promptly available by cleaning ledges, fixtures, walls, vents, and lights. Performs terminal cleaning of all apartments between vacancies, including but not limited to: tables, floors, lights, vents, ceilings, walls, furniture, beds, closets, kitchens, stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, dishes, and pots and pans. Meets deadlines for special projects and daily responsibilities; communicates accomplishments and any unfinished tasks to the supervisor. Manages waste removal and linen collection in designated areas. Collects and transports linens to the laundry service area for washing and restocking: washes and folds linens for future use. Collects, transports, cleans, and restocks all houseware items. Transports all staging items to the staging area for future use. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the goals of the department and institution. Minimum Education and/or Training: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum Experience: Previous experience in environmental services within a hospital or hotel setting is preferred. Experience with housekeeping-related equipment operations is preferred. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
