Salary: Maintenance Worker I: $5,110 - $6,211 Monthly

Maintenance Worker II: $5,723 - 6,957 Monthly

The City of Belvedere is seeking an engaging, dependable problem solver to fill one full-time Maintenance Worker I/II vacancy. The department may hire at either the I or the II level, depending on the education and experience held by the pool of qualified applicants. The Maintenance Worker I/II performs a variety of manual and semiskilled tasks involving landscaping and irrigation systems maintenance, cleaning of streets, storm drains, public rights-of-way, equipment, buildings, and other public facilities. In addition, this position is responsible for operating a variety of power-driven handheld, and "walk-behind" equipment and for providing excellent customer service to all.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will possess construction and landscaping experience with a strong desire to provide superior service to both internal and external customers. QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Maintenance Worker I:

Education: Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalency, such as a General Education Degree (GED) or High School Equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six (6) months prior maintenance experience, preferably in a public agency.

Previous experience in the operation of power-driven equipment is desirable but not required.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid California Class C driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Maintenance Worker II:

Education: Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalency, such as a General Education Degree (GED) or High School Equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in public works maintenance areas such as irrigation systems, streets, trees, parks, landscaping, or other related areas, equivalent to the duties and responsibilities of a Maintenance Worker I Classification with the City of Belvedere.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid California Class C driver's license and acceptable driving record.

ABOUT THE CITY: Belvedere is one of the smallest and oldest cities in California. It was incorporated in 1896 and is situated just north of San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County. The City is surrounded by water and comprises two islands and an artificial lagoon, with a total land mass of just 0.5 square miles. With less than 1,000 residences and very little retail or commercial presence, Belvedere is known for its rich history, natural beauty, tranquility, and strong sense of community. Despite its small size, Belvedere is a full-service city with police, public works, planning, building, finance, and administration departments.
