Lee County Community Development is seeking a reliable, dependable, and professional candidate to fill the role of Customer Service Specialist in our Records section. This position requires accuracy and completeness to ensure efficient retrieval of requested records, upholding compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standard operating procedures. The position requires critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and members of the public, and other duties as assigned.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Records supervisor, performs activities related to intake and issuance of records requests, while providing a positive and helpful experience for anyone who needs to access or inquire about records.
Provide accurate records and request responses in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
Maintains files and retrieves various records, files, forms, reports, and/or related documents as directed.
Provide high-quality copies and scans of records, whether originals are paper, digital, or microfilm/microfiche in form.
Develop and maintain proficiency with the tools of the department, including but not limited to software resources and departmental web resources (including but not limited to: Kwiktag, permit tracking software, LeeGIS, GovQA, Records Center Request System, Adobe Pro, IBM archives, microfiche reader).
Disseminate and file reports and other documents, establish and update files, and conduct inspections of records in accordance with Florida State Statutes.
Provides support to the front window, greets walk-ins, and responds to requests for information.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: One (1) year of clerical, records management, or fast-paced customer service experience.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in operating standard office equipment, including personal computers, copiers, wide-format and standard scanners, microfiche readers, fax machines, and related tools.
- Skilled in interacting with the public in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
- Capable of efficiently organizing, managing, and maintaining records with a high level of accuracy and accessibility.
- Excellent data entry skills, with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
The position's work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (hours may be adjusted based on the section's needs).
