Position Title: Custodian 3
Reports to: Manager of Custodial Services
Job Classification: Full-time; non-exempt
Salary Range: $21.88 - $27.31 per hour

The Opportunity:
Custodian 3 reports directly to the Manager of Custodial Services. The Custodian 3 is required to maintain the cleanliness of their assigned facility including all bathrooms, dorm rooms and common areas. Custodian 3 will serve the Mission by ensuring proper operation of the custodial equipment and machines, vacuums, carpet cleaners, industrial washers/dryers, hand trucks and other equipment. Additionally, Custodian 3 is to ensure all dorms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and exterior of the building are kept clean to standards set forth by the Manager of Custodial Services.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
In the absence of the Custodial Supervisor on a shift-by-shift basis, Custodian 3 will be responsible for the oversight of the Custodians to ensure they are performing their responsibilities in an effective and timely manner.
- Models cleaning to standards set forth by Custodial Leadership for Custodial staff members.
- Provides ongoing training to uphold DRM cleaning standards to Custodians as directed by the Custodial Supervisor and Manager.
- Provides coverage for gaps (on short term notice as well as planned notice) in shifts as staff call in sick including, but not limited to, vacations and emergencies.
- Assists Custodial Supervisor with specialized needs as they arise.
- Ensures spills and liquids are cleaned up on a timely basis this may occasionally include cleaning up body fluids according to appropriate bloodborne pathogen procedures.
- Ensures cleaning solvents and chemicals are handled according to OSHA standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Promotes infection control and addresses pest infestations when appropriate, including spearheading the regular execution of bed bug protocol for move ins and for treating room infestations.
- Ensures equipment is properly maintained.
- Oversees the cleaning all common areas.
- Keeps all common areas clean and free from clutter. (Common areas include Dining Room, Lobbies, Classrooms, Hallways, & Staff Lounge.)
- Ensures all offices are periodically cleaned as needed.
- Ensures windows, doors, frames, handrails and walls are regularly cleaned, including regular sanitation with the designated spraying units.
- Cleans outside of building.
- Keeps outside of building, on all sides, free of trash and well kept.
- Regularly power washes sidewalks as directed by the Custodial Manager.
- Ensures the linen laundry is completed effectively and on a timely basis.
- Participates in efforts to drive continuous improvement in Custodial Services.
- Keeps logs of key custodial tasks to ensure and document consistent performance of critical work.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Previous successful housekeeping or custodial experience, with preference for leadership experience.
- Ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift, carry, pull or push up to 50 pounds while using proper universal lifting and carrying techniques.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements including handling cleaners, solvents and chemicals.
- Ability to work independently and proficiently with limited supervision.
- Ability to promote infection control and deal effectively with pest infestations.
- Ability to work respectfully, professionally and in a Christ-like manner with program participants.
- Ability to speak and understand the English language.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities throughout the workday.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of hire date.
- Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
- Active drivers license as a limited amount of work-related travel may be required.
