We are seeking a Service Assistant II at our Newark campus. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors at ChristianaCare.
This is a part-time position working from 7:00am-3:30pm; requires working every other weekend and holiday rotation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains all patient, office, and ancillary areas of the hospital in a clean and sanitary condition.
Maintains all carts/equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Carts/equipment are not to be left unattended. Remove ALL empty boxes from carts/closets/floors all areas.
Maintains a clean/orderly appearance in all Environmental Services closets.
Maintains paper and soap supplies in all areas of the hospital.
Cleans/disinfects all precaution rooms in accordance with infection control policies/procedures.
Picks up trash in assigned areas and places in central location for bulk pick-up.
Answers Environmental Services texts/calls when assigned in a timely manner. Turn phones on immediately when clocked in for your shift and log into each app on the phone to be prepared to work.
Attends regularly scheduled inservice training programs given by the department.
Reports any maintenance problems or damages to Supervisor.
Maintains a helpful, productive attitude throughout the workday.
Picks up trash and soiled linen in assigned areas.
Removes needle/glove boxes, and soiled equipment from patient rooms and takes to soiled utility room.
Removes bulk trash from areas to compactor.
Removes infectious waste boxes from area too infectious waste storage area.
Assists in the responsibilities of the floor cleaning process.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to read and write at a high school level.
Ability to understand and communicate.
Ability to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene.
Ability to maintain a courteous, service oriented helpful attitude throughout the workday.
Ability to work in a standing position and carry out normally assigned duties for the entire shift.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding patients.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Hands Infectious waste/Hazardous Material as assigned. Provides one on one Training as assigned. Bed Board Fill In/ Weekend Rotation as assigned. Pass Word Reset on Work Issued Phones as assigned. Strips/refinishes floor, shampoos carpets/upholstery, washes walls/windows, and transports furniture/equipment as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Potential exposure to infectious disease unless special precautions are followed
Safety Glasses must be worn at all times.
