We are looking for a dedicated Production Maintenance Mechanic in Elgin Illinois 60123 with $35/hr pay for a 2-month contract duration, temp role. In this role, you will be responsible for daily maintenance on a wide range of equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Prefers to have Trade or technical school certification or Millwright license and must have previous experience maintaining production equipment, knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems APPLY NOW!
Schedule: 5: 00 AM to 2: 00 PM M - F (OT Possible)
What You ll Do:
- Perform daily maintenance on a wide range of equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency breakdowns keep the lines running smoothly!
- Troubleshoot issues with mechanical and electrical components.
- Assist with equipment modifications, fabrications, and changeovers to improve production efficiency.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Support start-up and shutdown operations for plant equipment.
- Work on systems that may involve chemicals (caustic, acids, ammonia) following safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and procedures.
What We re Looking For:
- Previous experience maintaining production equipment (food & beverage experience a big plus!).
- Solid knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic.
- Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley or GE PLCs and other industrial software interfaces (preferred).
- Skilled in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- HVAC, plumbing, welding, or millwright experience is a strong advantage.
- Must be physically capable: lift up to 60 lbs., bend, stoop, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work overtime when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Trade or technical school certification or Millwright license.
- Forklift operation experience (required at some locations).
- Ability to bring your own tools (site-dependent).
