Job DetailsAlimentari Rossi & Sons is looking for a sous chef to help lead our state of the art production location at Eastdale Village.
Rossi & Sons is a 45 year old family owned Poughkeepsie landmark. Voted best sandwich in New York, we are more than just an old world deli. We make our products in-house and operate a full service catering operation. Our new Alimentari location in Eastdale Village features a 6,000 square foot retail space, commissary kitchen and bake shop.
The Sous Chef is a critical team member and must be a passionate and driven leader with a deep commitment to the culinary world. This position will be an integral part of the overall success of the operation and will help to support the vision of the culinary program and will assist in overseeing the production kitchen. The Sous Chef will be hands-on, helping to execute daily production and contributing to the development of a growing operation in various ways.
Requirements
- High level understanding of Italian cookery, pastas, soups, sauces, butchery and sausage making.
- Experience in large volume from scratch cooking.
- A team player who leads by example and is willing to mentor others.
- A skilled communicator, with a professional and positive demeanor and an approachable manner.
- A detail-oriented planner with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to follow written recipes at large scale.

- Ensure the highest standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen areas, at all times.
- Currently ServeSafe or State Certified in Sanitation or get it with 45 days of employment.
- Demonstrate good judgment and display competency in organization, time management, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Assist in planning & producing special events/banquets which require customized menus or other related needs.
Compensation: Salary ($55,000.00 - $60,000.00)
