The Park Service manages and protects more than 90,000 acres of South Carolina's natural and cultural resources, which range from deep mountain wilderness and old-growth forests to plantation homes, battlefields, waterfronts, and wetlands. The state park system includes 48 operational parks and six historic properties. The system also includes more than 1,500 separate buildings, 155 cabins, 80 motel rooms, 3,000 campsites, two 18-hole golf courses, two saltwater fishing piers, 42 ponds, 156 miles of paved roads, and more than 300 miles of hiking and riding trails.
Job Purpose and Duties:
The reservation specialist serves as the voice of South Carolina State Parks when customers call to inquire about making reservations and is responsible for managing the entire reservation process from start to finish. The reservation specialist will also assist the State Park Operations staff with various tasks and duties.
1) Answering and directing in-bound calls to the SC State Park Service call center in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
2) Assists the public with information and by making reservations for day-use, camping, cabins, and other overnight accommodations or special use facilities.
3) Provides administrative support to the State Park Service.
4) Administers designated functions as assigned by Park Operations Management.
5) Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
High School Diploma and (1) year of related customer service experience.
Additional Requirements:
1) Duties involve standing, bending and sitting.
2) Ability to interact tactfully and cordially with the public and to communicate effectively. Ability to operate a variety of office machines and equipment to include computer, telecommunications equipment, cash registers, and related equipment.
3) Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours weekly.
