Job Details

The Sommelier will need to be someone who yearns to cultivate the best guest experience possible with the idea that food and wine are inseparable. In addition, the Sommelier is responsible for managing all daily bar and beverage functions for the hotel company and ensuring a successful high-quality experience for guests.

Must have the flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for Inventory Maintenance
  • Restocks and maintains the Bar area
  • Develop a cocktail program to increase revenue and change seasonally
  • Monitors bar service standards and adjusts as needed
  • Assists in restocking of Wine
  • Maintains cellars and beverage storage areas
  • Understand bar service and operations
  • Assists with the inventory count of bar supplies and maintain a par level of these items
  • Assists in managing the ordering and receiving of Wine
  • Assists in setting up wine tastings daily
  • Trains staff on wines, spirits and cocktails

Must comply with all company policies and procedures.

To perform the essential functions of this position regular and consistent attendance is required.

Must be able to work well with other Team Members and Managers and interact with our guests.

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE

  • 4-year degree in culinary arts preferred
  • Experience in the hospitality industry preferred
  • Technical school or on-the-job formal training in Wine and Spirits preferred
  • Strong knowledge of wine & spirits

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate with guests, team members, and managers effectively

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of math
  • Must be able to do property-wide guest charging and closing out of checks

REASONING ABILITY

  • Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to be on feet for a long period of time
  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart safely

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Dining Room, Bar, and Kitchen areas
  • 1,400 acres of High Hampton property
