Position Summary:

Ability to complete the role of a Kitchen Helper I while also, overseeing the dish room. Fills in where needed. Communicates with management, merit, and student employees who are not in compliance with safety regulations or the regulations of the handbook. Creates the daily assignment sheet for all staff in dish room. Ensure all tasks are completed on a daily and weekly basis.

Work hours will be between 6:30 am 9:00 pm. May occasionally work other 8-hour shifts between 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Weekend hours included.

Specific Job Duties & Tasks:

  • Directs and assists in scheduling work arrangements of kitchen helpers to assure work areas are covered and assignments are completed. Assists with set up and clean up for special events.
  • Checks and is responsible for cleanliness, orderliness, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Assists in maintaining china, silverware and cleaning supplies inventory; suggest orders as needed.
  • Trains kitchen helpers and assists with daily work routine as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • One year experience as a Kitchen Helper I, or outside experience comparable thereto .

Desired Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to foster a welcoming and respectful workplace environment while recognizing personal differences.
  • Interest in and the ability to learn basic computer and keyboarding skills; including the ability to access and draft email correspondence and the ability to manage electronic time accruals and personal absence requests. Previous experience is highly desired.
