Full-time, non-exempt

Reports to: Director of Food Service

Position Summary:

The Food Service Worker will provide routine food preparation and customer assistance services throughout the Cafe.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and serves foods such as sandwiches, salads, and specials according to customer specifications.
  • Provides menu information and suggestions to customers, including food suggestions and explanations of ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Assists with food preparation as directed, operating food production equipment as required to complete tasks.
  • Assist in preparing, stocking, and rotating all Cafe Grab & Go Items.
  • Supports set up and break down of catered events and works the events.
  • Operates panini grill.
  • Arrange table settings to cafe standard.
  • Clears, cleans, and sanitizes tables.
  • Maintains, cleans, and sanitizes workstations.
  • Responsible for taking refrigeration temperatures at the deli station and recording them daily.
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other containers and returns them to their appropriate locations in the kitchen area.
  • Refills condiments or other supplies.
  • Refills the drink coolers and snack cases.
  • Follows all safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to ensure quality food service.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional customer service.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all cafe staff.
  • Ability to operate cooking and food preparation equipment.
  • Ability to understand and meet cafe health, safety, and excellence standards.

Education and Experience:

  • Some high school coursework is required.

Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the cafe.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Work in excessive heat and cold in association with the kitchen environment may be required.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, and/or weekends, as needed.
