Overview

The principal purpose of the Building and Grounds Custodian is for cleaning and maintenance of facility and equipment including restrooms, pool decks, and grounds in compliance with Health and Sanitation Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for maintenance of the pool facilities including but not limited to the following: clean, sanitize, sweep, mop, deodorize, dust, take out trash, wash windows, wash mirrors, move pool furniture, replace light bulbs, rooms set-up including tables and chairs, bathrooms and pool deck
  • Ensure the safety of the team and public
  • Performs minor maintenance and repairs including but not limited to light plumbing, painting (interior and exterior), graffiti cleanup, poser washing, weed eating, repair tables and chairs, replace light bulbs
  • Special events responsibilities include set-up and tear down as specified by rental contract or event design. Rooms should be set up as outlined by floor plan and /or in accordance with lessee request
  • Maintenance of facilities to ensure clean and safe environment is required
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of equipment
  • Responds to request for supplies and equipment
  • Will provide support in the absence of the Site Supervisor and / or Staff Assistance in answering telephones and responds to customer request as needed
  • Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

  • Non-Exempt - Full time
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00a - 5:00p
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
  • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Six (6) months experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

  • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Required to obtain within six (6) months from the date of hire

  • First Aid
  • CPR
  • AED

Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

  • Drug Screening: Yes

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
