Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.\nA starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and the Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations\n
Nature of Work
The\nfundamental reason this class exists is to perform highly strenuous unskilled or\nsemi-skilled work under extreme or adverse working conditions. Work\nresponsibilities include performing maintenance work such as landscaping,\ngrounds maintenance, and event setups, operating equipment such as zero turn\nmowers, tree trimming equipment and other non-CDL equipment, performing\nsemi-skilled trades work, and assisting crews on various labor such as roofing,\nconcrete or construction work. Work may\nbe performed independently or as a member of a crew and is usually closely\nsupervised.\n
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. and six\n(6) months of experience performing routine maintenance or mechanical duties\nsuch as ground maintenance, landscaping duties, setting up events, or assisting\nmaintenance crews with various labor.\n\n\n\nNOTE:\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\nknowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\n
Special Requirements
Some\npositions require the use of departmental vehicles for departmental\nbusiness. Individuals must be capable of\noperating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an\ninsurable driving record.\n
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill two (2) vacancies and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancies are with theCity of Montgomery Street Maintenance Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience on their online application. If more than six qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants.Tied scores will not be broken.
