Overview

The YMCA Camping Services Camp Host is responsible assisting the Camping Services Director in ensuring safety and quality of Camp Safety. Other responsibilities will include assisting in administrative duties, housekeeping, food & beverage duties, and facility upkeep.

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Class B driver's license, motor vehicle record which meets Association Transportation Policy, current First Aid Certificate
  • Experience in the operation of vehicles and safe driving practices, experience working with children
  • Strong character values, communication skills, emotional maturity, ability to read and understand maps and written instructions
  • Must adhere to Association Transportation Drug & Alcohol Substance Abuse Testing Policy requirements

Responsibilities

  1. Greet guests at time of arrival
  2. Insure that facilities are ready for guest arrival
  3. Provide camp orientation to guests
  4. Enforce camp rules and policies
  5. Maintain regular contact with group leaders
  6. Respond to emergency situations
  7. Provide maintenance as needed
  8. Prepare a friendly and welcoming check in area for guest arrivals
  9. Responsible for all camp communication with guests and quickly distribute that communication to the appropriate team members
  10. Attend all meals for the duration, check in with each group leader for needs or changes and be approachable and ready to help at a moments notice
  11. Stay at camp for entire shift and be available by radio or host phone
