We are seeking a skilled andexperienced Cook to join our team and prepare high-quality, presentable dishesfor our residents. The Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients,cooking and presenting dishes, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail and be able towork efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews the daysmenus and assembles food, supplies, and equipment for daily food preparationaccording to menus.
  • Ensure all necessaryitems are on site for the following days menu and all frozen items pulled andthawed according to State food service standards.
  • Prepares meals forregular and therapeutic diet according to planned menus and approved recipes.
  • Assists in servingmeals; serves food according to portion control.
  • Maintains assigneddepartment areas in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner using a clean-as-you-goprinciple and by completing tasks as assigned on food services checklist.
  • Keeps dry storage andall refrigerator/freezers in an organized manner.
  • Assists in checking inand storing incoming food and supplies according to State food servicestandards.
  • Checks special diettrays to ensure that they are accurate.
  • Reports equipmentneeds and supplies to Supervisor.
  • Assists with planningand preparation of special meals, parties, and banquets.
  • Responsible forDietary Department function and personnel in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Follows establishedpolicies and procedures for department.
  • Other duties asassigned.

Resident Service and Satisfaction

  • Fully understand allaspects of residents rights; maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity ofeach Resident in the delivery of services to them. Interact in a manner thatpromotes the emotional well-being of the Resident.
  • Respond to Residentsand family members concerns with empathy and communicate with them in acourteous and respectful manner.
  • Assists in the followup of any Resident special requests or complaints.
  • Maintains aprofessional demeanor and appearance in conformity with dress code standards.

Professional Development

  • Maintainnecessary education classes to keep SERV Safe certification current, ifapplicable.
  • Hasfull understanding of door alarm system, fire, safety, and emergencyprocedures.
  • Maintainsa good attendance record.
  • Attends in-servicetraining.

Basic Qualifications

High School diploma/GED; Computerskills required.

Experience:

  • Three (3) yearsexperience in supervisory position in food preparation and service.
  • Minimum of three (3)years experience in cooking.
  • Must have the abilityto supervise others and continue to be trained on the job in food preparation,cooking, estimating quantities and other service duties.

Physical Work Environment: Must be ableto lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and to exert 20 pounds of forcefrequently. Physical activity involves sitting, waking, standing, carrying,bending, lifting, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling,talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
