Job Summary:

The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing, serving, and delivering food to students and safe environment. This role supports kitchen operations, maintains cleanliness standards, and ensures compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve meals or food items in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu specifications.
  • Set up dining areas and food stations with necessary items and supplies.
  • Assist kitchen staff with food preparation, portioning, and serving.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.
  • Wash dishes, trays, and utensils.
  • Stock and organize food and supply inventory, reporting shortages or expired items.
  • Follow proper food storage, handling, and disposal procedures to ensure food safety.
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries for quality and accuracy.
  • Serve meals to students and staff in a friendly and timely manner.
  • Adhere to health, sanitation, and safety policies and regulations at all times.
  • Handle students or staff requests and resolve issues courteously or escalate to supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in food service, kitchen work, or hospitality is a plus but not required.
  • Certifications: Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe Certification

Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Physical stamina: able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to hot surfaces, sharp utensils, cleaning chemicals, and food allergens.
  • Fast-paced kitchen or cafeteria environment.
  • Subject to prolonged periods of standing.
  • Required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Tasks may involve pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and smelling.
  • Requires physical motions such as: reaching, bending, stooping, shaking, stirring, wiping, cutting
  • May be required to lift and carry cases or sacks weighing up to 20 pounds, 10 or more times per shift.
  • Potential hazards include, but are not limited to cuts, burns, slipping, tripping
  • Work environment noise level is usually moderate.

Computer skills:

Basic computer skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 30-40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Occasional evenings or weekends are required for special school events

Compensation:

$14.50-$16.25 contingent on experience, qualifications, and certification
