WIN Job Center Receptionist Job Description: This position includes a variety of tasks involving the day-to-day operations of the WIN Job Center. This position will provide a professional and welcoming environment for clients who enter the center and who call for assistance. The Receptionist will report to the Jackson WIN Center Director. All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalency (HSE); and at least one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Answer telephone, triage needs and direct calls to appropriate staff. Take messages as needed and send to appropriate staff. Check and respond to voice messages in a timely manner (the same day). Greet customers, students and guests, triage needs and communicate those needs to the appropriate partner staff. Create a contagious atmosphere of excellent customer service. Any clerical duties as assigned by Center Director. Other duties as assigned. Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee is occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
