HOURS: Part time, flexible schedule up to 29 hours per week Criminal background history must meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) standards to work within the Law Enforcement Center for the City. Incumbent must not have any convictions of any non-traffic misdemeanor or felony offenses. DEFINITION To perform a full range of custodial duties related to the care, maintenance and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general supervision from the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and limited supervision from the Custodian 2 position. Exercises no supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities and related fixtures including drinking fountains, refrigerated water coolers, custodial mop sinks, restroom sinks, urinals and toilets; replenishes supplies in restrooms. 2. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes, strips and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets. 3. Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment. 4. Washes windows, mirrors and walls. 5. Washes tables and chairs as required. 6. Empties, cleans and sanitizes waste receptacles. 7. Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up rooms for conferences and meetings. 8. Replaces lights and adjusts shades and blinds. 9. Identifies and reports building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities. 10. Performs specialized projects such as restoration programs on floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and other items as needed. 11. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required. 12. Attends work regularly as scheduled and remains alert at all times.

Use a variety of custodial equipment, supplies and materials.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
- Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Operating assigned equipment.
Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
- Making observations
- Communicating with others
- Reading and writing
- Operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES - Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
No experience required. Some custodial experience is desirable.
Education:
High School diploma or GED preferred.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain immediately, an appropriate, valid driver's license.

Environmental Conditions:
Field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to toxic materials and infectious waste.
Physical Conditions:
The employee must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to perform the required duties. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull, drag, and/or lift items. The employee occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 pounds.
