Job DetailsBuba Bureka is a new breakfast-lunch takeout counter opening up in the heart of Greenwich Village. Were entirely focused on perfecting the bureka, a savory Mediterranean pastry served with briny pickles, crushed tomato, and a perfectly jammy egg. An ideal candidate for this position is comfortable working in an open kitchen, interfacing with customers, and jumping from FOH to BOH and back as needed.
Job Description:
The Baker is an essential part of our team, opening the shop at 6am, baking the first trays of burekas, and preparing for the morning service at 8am. They keep track of inventory, production, and wastage throughout the day, ensuring everything is accounted for and communicated across the team. The Baker is just as much an FOH role as it is a BOH role, so comfort in engaging with guests is required.

Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Contribute to the preparation and production of burekas, maintaining quality and consistency.
- Support other team members by restocking stations and providing supplies as needed throughout the day.
- Regularly move trays of burekas between storage areas.
- Assist with tracking bureka baking and wastage to support efficient restaurant operations.
- Operate and maintain a deck oven.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Receive and store inventory deliveries properly, ensuring freshness and organization.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Skills and Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in a bakery or high volume restaurant.
- NYC Food Handlers License required (or willingness to obtain before starting).
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Attention to detail and consistency in food preparation and support tasks.
- Physical ability to navigate stairs regularly, stand for extended periods, and lift 50+ lbs as needed.
- Comfortable working early mornings, or evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive hourly wage: $18.00-22.00/hour, plus tips as part of a tip-sharing system for all eligible team members.
