You'll work in our newly renovated galley kitchen housed within authentic train cars, preparing beautiful foods with care for guests dining in our collection of eight historic rail cars, including an original luxury Pullman Club Car from the 1800s. This position offers an opportunity to join the hospitality and restaurant team at our 43-acre property which features historic caboose lodging, vintage cabins, a gift shop, scenic campground facilities
Key Responsibilities:
--Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
Cook and Plate Dishes: Operate kitchen equipment (grill, oven, stovetop, etc.) to prepare and cook dishes. Ensure each plate is consistent with presentation standards.
--Station Management: Take ownership of the assigned cooking station, ensuring its stocked, clean, and organized throughout the shift.
Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality, portioning, and plating.
--Time Management: Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
--Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other cooks, kitchen staff, and servers to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
--Food Safety and Hygiene: Follow food safety guidelines and maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
--Inventory Assistance: Assist in managing kitchen inventory, tracking waste, and alert management of any shortages.
--Adaptability: Handle special requests, dietary restrictions, or modifications from guests.
--Menu Development: always open for input on our seasonal menu changes or if you have ideas for ways to increase productivity in the kitchen, management is happy to hear them
Qualifications:
Experience and Skills: Prior line cook experience preferred. Must safely operate kitchen equipment and work efficiently under pressure.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen workflows.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift 50 lbs, and work in fast-paced environment.
Personal Qualities: Strong communication skills, positive attitude, receptive to feedback, interest in sustainable food practices.
