Nature and Scope of Job:

To perform duties of operation, care, cleaning, maintenance, and security of assigned facility and site. To provide a clean, comfortable, safe, attractive environment to promote the mission of the Sweetwater County School District. To provide appealing and nutritional meals to participants of the Sweetwater County School District Number One breakfast and lunch program on days that school is in session.

Job Functions:

Essential Functions:

  1. Assists with preparation of food for the lunch program as called for by the menu daily.

  2. Operates all kitchen equipment on a daily basis.

  3. Cleans kitchen equipment, serving area, and cafeteria area daily.

  4. Assumes responsibility for checking all equipment and ensuring that it's in safe working condition

  5. Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, parents, and all district personnel at all times.

  6. Operates computer system when needed.

? 7. Participates in a daily work schedule of building cleaning and operation.

  1. Vacuums all carpets daily in area of responsibility.

  2. Cleans, sanitizes, services, and restocks restrooms daily.

  3. Washes windows and frames as directed.

  4. Cleans all chalkboards and trays daily.

  5. Dust mops or damp mops all resilient or tile floors daily.

  6. Empties waste and sanitary receptacles daily.

  7. Replaces light bulbs as needed.

  8. Cleans student and teachers desk as directed

  9. Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy and minor building repairs as custodian is capable of.

  10. Raises the United States and Wyoming flags at or before 8:00 a.m. on each school day, and lowers them at or after 3:30 p.m.

  11. Perform such yard keeping chores as keeping the grounds free from rubbish, trimming the trees, as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.

  12. Report major repairs needed promptly to the Principal.

  13. Reports immediately to Principal or Director of Custodial Services any damage to school property

  14. Authorized to remain on the school premises when attendance is required by the Principal.

  15. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day. Doors and windows are secured and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons are turned off.

  16. Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the Principal.

  17. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.

  18. Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems.

  19. Sounds fire signal to alert fire department and school personnel in event of fire and assists in extinguishing fire.

  20. Report unauthorized persons to proper authority, routes or detains them, and/or calls police for assistance, according to emergency action plan.

  21. Participates in in-service training programs as appropriate.

  22. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Other Functions:

  1. Performs snow removal when required.

  2. Performs weekend and holiday building checks as directed.

  3. Provides assistance to building staff members on request.

  4. Works at other school facilities on request.

  5. Adapts to specific or new working situations as needed.

  6. Assumes responsibility for checking that all equipment in kitchen and cafeteria are in safe, working condition.

  7. Request repair work for all broken or unsafe conditions.

  8. Performs any other duties as assigned by Coordinator and Food Service Director.

  9. Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning staff and students and chooses the appropriate time, place, and supervisor to discuss problems.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Mental Ability:

Experience in supervision.

Ability to use computer system.

Ability to follow and successfully complete both written and oral directions.

Ability to work with people of various personality types.

Ability to think clearly and calculate accurately.

Previous commercial cleaning experience helpful.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Certification, Experience or Formal Training):

High School graduate or equivalent

Reading ability adequate to follow directions resulting in making effective work decisions
