Vern's is a neighborhood restaurant in downtown Charleston. We are seeking an individual who is creative and passionate about everything food and beverage.

Vern's is an independent restaurant founded on good times and community. Our vibe is upscale-casual, energetic, refined but unpretentious. Our menu is a mix of elevated, delicious, and innovative food - drawing inspiration from European and Californian cuisine. Our beverage program is highly curated with a focus on small producers using organic practices, reflecting the ethos of our food purveyors. Vern's is a warm and intimate bistro-style space with upbeat and attentive service.

SERVER
We are seeking a motivated individual with an in-depth knowledge of food & beverage, strong attention to detail, and a positive attitude. Works well under pressure, is organized, flexible, and self-motivated. Must possess a genuine love for hospitality and caring for others. Experience in restaurants is necessary.

As a Server, requirements will include:

  • Delivery of professional, warm, and attentive service to all guests
  • Curiosity towards ingredients, farmers, winemakers, and purveyors
  • Concise & articulate communication to Chefs & FOH Management
  • Respectful behavior to all co-workers
  • Participation in weekly wine trainings
  • Hands-on presence on the floor, willing to do a multitude of roles in a team-oriented environment
  • Ambition to grow food & beverage knowledge and gain new skills in our industry
  • Flexible night & weekend availability
  • Bartending and / or barista experience a plus

As independent owner/operators who will be working alongside you & the team, we are committed to cultivating an environment that feels supportive, educational, enthusiastic, and inclusive. We are dedicated to the advancement and success of others both personally and professionally.

We are currently open 5 days per week (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays) - serving dinner Thursday thru Monday. This position would be scheduled four nights per week, averaging 35-40 hours.
