GENERAL SUMMARY:

Laundry Associates are responsible for the routine upkeep of resident/patient apartments/rooms, common, administrative, and back of house areas ensuring that these living spaces remain clean, secure, and inviting. They meticulously manage cleaning supplies and equipment, delivering their services with a focus on sensitivity, professionalism, and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed
  • Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
  • Treat residents with respect and properly care for their personal belongings
  • Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures
  • Use and dispose of PPE with established PPE procedures
  • Clean work/supply carts, equipment etc. as needed or directed.
  • Discard infectious waste in appropriate containers
  • Turn in all found articles/items to your supervisor
  • Assure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift
  • Collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas
  • Sort, count, and wash soiled linen, laundry, garments, etc, in accordance with established procedures and separate those items that require special stain removal and treatment
  • Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, linen garments etc. to residents daily and or as instructed
  • Assure that clean laundry, linen, garments etc. are distributed to designated areas as instructed
  • Report all accidents/incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor no matter how minor they may be
  • Keep areas clear of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, equipment etc.
  • Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes, and end of the work day
  • Communicate with Environmental Services Director and care staff to disinfect immediate unscheduled needs
  • Must be in company uniform and resident ready at all time
  • Performs other related essential duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, referral sources, vendors, and outside contacts.
  • Able to make independent and educated decisions.
  • Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly, and caring manner.
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Proven housekeeping experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least two (2) years working in a multi-unit community or hotel environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • Laundry Associates shall reasonably anticipate skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials that may result from the performance of an employee's duties.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is crucial in safeguarding individuals from potential workplace hazards by providing a physical barrier against various risks, such as chemicals, physical injuries, or infectious agents.
