Custodian (Position Code #7125)

SALARY:

$15.92/hour (part-time approx. 25 hrs./week)

Building and Grounds

GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for the daily cleaning of City buildings.

TASKS OR DUTIES

Cleans and dusts floors, furniture fixtures, window sills, walls, doors, pictures, etc.; Sweeps and mops floors, steps, stairways, etc.;

Vacuums and shampoos carpeting and rugs;

Empties and cleans wastebaskets, ash trays, receptacles, cigarette urns, towel and sanitary disposal receptacles;

Washes drinking fountains, coolers, mirrors, toilets, sinks, urinals, tile walls, enamel surfaces and windows;

Keeps lockers and service closets in a clean and orderly condition; Fills toilet tissue, soap, towel and other dispensers;

Performs other related duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Some experience in custodial maintenance;

The ability to comprehend and carry out verbal and/or written instructions;

The ability to work while bending, stooping lifting or standing for long periods of time; Must be able to work evening and weekends.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

A valid State of Illinois driver's license

Must reside within the City of Joliet and/or reside within the City of Joliet within eighteen (18) months from the date of hire if the date of hire is after February 16, 2016.
