Under the supervision of the Recreation Center Manager, the Front Desk Attendant provides a variety of customer service activities. The employee greets members and visitors, processes payments and provides tours of the facility. The Front Desk Attendant assists with membership duties to include new member registrations, renewals, and membership services. The employee also responds to inquiries and refers complaints to the supervisor. This job is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-employment background check and random drug screenings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Customer Service. The employee assists all visitors to include greeting visitors, addressing inquiries and processing payments to provide exceptional service.
- Greets visitors.
- Answers the telephone; responds accordingly or routes to appropriate individual.
- Responds to requests and addresses inquiries.
- Represents the City in a professional manner.
- Refers all complaints and issues to supervisor.
- Maintains a communication log to pass along all pertinent information to staff.
- Accepts and processes cash, check, credit/debit payments; provides receipts.
- Registers and signs up new members; processes renewals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Recreation Center Support. Provides administrative and facilities support to assist in the efficient and effective operations of the Center.
- Updates Center administrative forms.
- Updates and modifies fitness schedule for the month.
- Develops and composes announcements and flyers for Center events.
- Updates bulletin board for display of all events and schedules.
- Runs the journal to provide documentation of all monies taken in.
- Runs reports for documentation of members accounts status and balances.
- Wipes down counter and other surfaces to clean and disinfect.
- Cleans windows and sweeps floors to assist in maintaining a clean working environment, a pleasant environment, and a safe environment for members and guests.
- Responds to guests emergencies requiring first aid or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
- Wipes, cleans, and sanitizes bathrooms.
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
- Ability to read and write; completion of some high school is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year or previous customer service experience or work with the public.
- Possess cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.

Work Environment
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; with contagious diseases or irritant chemicals, etc. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
