Overview:
At Hometown Coffee, Baristas are key to delivering exceptional customer experiences through expertise, speed, and hospitality. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

A successful barista at Hometown is more than just a coffee maker; they are hospitality-minded professionals who take ownership of their work, engage with customers authentically, and contribute to a smooth and collaborative workflow. They understand that every detail matters from the taste of the espresso to the cleanliness of the workstationand take pride in maintaining the high standards that define Hometown.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality & Consistency:
    • Deliver consistent, excellent drinks and coach the team to do the same.
    • Maintain standardized recipes to meet quality, taste, texture, and appearance standards.
    • Dial in espresso and steam milk regularly for balanced, well-extracted drinks.
  • Speed & Efficiency:
    • Manage peak times calmly and efficiently, ensuring smooth workflow.
    • Lead by example in maintaining an organized station and keeping the line moving under pressure.
    • Act as secondary cashier during rushes, ensuring service speed without compromising quality.
  • Knowledge & Technical Skill:
    • Master drink preparation, ensuring high quality and consistency.
    • Teach and model Hometowns coffee culture, inspiring skill development in teammates.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain machines for optimal performance.
  • Cleanliness & Sanitation:
    • Maintain a spotless, organized station, leading by example.
    • Ensure proper sanitation during shifts, cleaning machines and surfaces as needed.
  • Awareness & Hospitality:
    • Anticipate customer needs and provide top-tier service. We dont just serve coffeewe create experiences that keep people coming back.
    • Proactively assist teammates, ensuring smooth bar flow and elevating customer experience.
    • Address customer concerns quickly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:
Previous customer service or coffee experience preferred, but we are happy to train the right person!
Strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of coffee brewing methods and safe food handling (ServSafe is a plus).

Pay & Benefits:
Hourly rate: $18.00 $22.00 (Part-time positions available).
