Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in school buildings and on district grounds. The Custodian performs routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and facility support services to ensure a healthy environment conducive to learning and working.
The position reports to the Director of Athletics, Facilities, and School Safety and Lead Custodian Supervisor.
Schedule
Monday through Friday
2:30pm – 11:00pm
Rate of Pay
$16.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience.

- Maintain good attendance and job commitment
- Prior relevant experience (preferred)
- Complete (at applicant’s expense) State-mandated Criminal Background Check
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitation
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, offices, and other assigned areas.
- Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, walls, and equipment.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste according to district procedures.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, sinks, drinking fountains, and high-touch surfaces regularly.
Maintenance and Facility Support
- Replace light bulbs, restock supplies, and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Assist with setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for meetings, assemblies, and special events.
- Secure buildings by locking doors and windows and activating security systems, as assigned.
Grounds and Safety
- Clear snow and ice from entrances, sidewalks, and emergency exits during inclement weather.
- Maintain exterior areas by sweeping walkways, picking up litter, and assisting with seasonal groundskeeping tasks.
Inspection and Reporting:
- Monitor building conditions and report maintenance or safety issues promptly to the Lead Custodian or Facilities Director.
- Assist with emergency clean-up tasks, including spills and bodily fluids, in compliance with safety protocols.
Other Duties:
Follow all district safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.

Certificate, Licenses, Registrations
High School Diploma or equivalent
Language Skills. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents, instructions, and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills. Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Apply mathematical calculations and problem solving techniques in daily practical situations
Reasoning Ability. Ability to apply common sense knowledge and understanding of situations to carry out oral and written instructions. Utilizes situational awareness and reasoning to solve problems that involve few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies and administrative guidelines.
