Job Description Summary

Utilizing excellent customer service and high attention to detail, the Floors, Projects, and Rapid Response Technician performs a variety of project-related and emergency response duties. Responsibilities include comprehensive floor care, such as stripping, waxing, spraying, scrubbing, and cleaning/shampooing hard floor and carpeted surfaces in areas including offices, restrooms, lobbies, and hallways. This role also encompasses special events and biohazard cleanup, responding to calls, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules.

Job Description

This position is scheduled for Sunday-Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Essential Functions:

  • Cares for floors including vacuuming, mopping, stripping/waxing floors, regular floor maintenance, carpet spotting, carpet extraction, and carpet maintenance.

  • Loads and unloads equipment and supplies.

  • Moves obstacles and furniture.

  • Cleans equipment after completion of work.

  • Meets departmental standards for customer satisfaction.

  • Drives company vehicles when required.

  • Responds to calls and immediately responds; calls may include hazards such as broken glass or bodily fluids.

  • Rotational on-call coverage responsibilities

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or experience sufficient to perform responsibilities of the position.

  • Ability to read and understand safety procedures, cleaning instructions, and schedules.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups across the campus community.

  • Ability to prioritize projects as needed.

  • Ability to work the assigned shift hours.

  • Ability to meet the requirements of the Universitys automobile insurance.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • This position may be designated as essential personnel to support business continuity during campus emergencies, disasters, or other special needs as directed by management. Essential personnel are subject to recall inside/outside their normal schedule. Additional details can be found in the Wake Forest University Policy on Weather and Other Unusual Conditions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of hard surface floors and carpet care, and the operation of floor care machinery, is preferred.

  • Experience operating floor equipment alone (scrubbers, buffers, extractors, etc.)

  • One year of work experience.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for own work.

Physical Requirements:

  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking either within your respective areas or between areas on campus, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
