One of New Jerseys top restaurants Heirloom Kitchen is seeking a prep cook to work a few days a week alongside our Chef De Cuisine Zachary Abramzon. Heirloom Kitchen is an evolving culinary center, farm-to-table restaurant, and supper club (offering dinner service Thursday through Sunday in our open kitchen), recreational cooking school, and a retail boutique with a carefully curated selection of kitchenware and table-top items. Helmed by chef David Viana and Neilly Robinson, the culinary center is committed to sourcing the finest quality ingredients and creating both an elevated and interactive experience.
The perfect candidate is someone who embodies hospitality and caring while providing a skilled and a time efficient product.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Execute daily prep lists, ensuring that ingredients are prepared according to Judys standards.
Cooking: Prepare and cook menu items to order, maintaining consistency and quality with every dish. Bring a playful yet refined approach to creating each plate.
Station Management: Manage your assigned station during service hours, ensuring a timely and efficient flow of orders.
Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and address any challenges that arise.
Inventory Control: Keep track of inventory and assist with restocking and managing food items. Communicate inventory needs with the kitchen manager.
Cleanliness and Safety: Follow all health and safety regulations, keeping your workspace organized and clean.
Menu Development Support: Assist with menu development and tastings, offering creative input to enhance the menu and culinary offerings.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a line cook or prep cook role, preferably in fine dining or neighborhood-style restaurants.
Culinary Skills: Strong understanding of cooking techniques and ingredients, with a creative approach to menu execution.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Team Player: Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced kitchen.
