The Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing food, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment, for the Home Delivered Meals Program and the Congregate Meals Program. Additionally, the incumbent may be responsible for duties, such as, but not limited to, stocking, dating and organizing food items from truck deliveries, completing proper food cost and portioning for the meals.
Essential Duties
- Preparing and cooking food according to established or special menus
- Maintaining inventory of food and kitchen supplies
- Working in cold temperature, at times, bringing items in and out of a freezer and/or cooler
- Adhering to proper safe handling of food at all times per ServSafe regulations
- Standing on a packing line, and assisting with the assembly and packaging of meals for the home delivered meals program
- Loading food containers for center meals into trucks for delivery.
- Performing other duties, as assigned

- This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing
- Physical Requirements: Due to the physical nature of the job, this role will require a physical and a 50-pound lift test
- Vision Requirement: Individual must be able to determine color variations to be able to detect spoiled foods. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors and extreme temperatures
- The grade for this position is A12(2). The salary will be dependent on education and experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- CPR, First Aid and ServSafe (within 6 months of hire)
