JOB DESCRIPTION: MDTC ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT//RECEPTIONIST

SALARY SCHEDULE: SCHEDULE D-T

DEPARTMENT: MID-DEL TECHNOLOGY CENTER

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

HOURS: 7:30-4:00 PM and 235 Day contract

SAFETY-SENSITIVE: YES

POSITION SUMMARY:

The receptionist/secretary provides exceptional customer service to clients over the phone and in-person as they are Mid-Del Technology Center’s first point of contact. The position supports the Operations and Student Services department and other staff in a variety of ways.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3+ years clerical work experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and Google Gmail is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills over the phone and in-person required.
  • Positive attitude and love for helping people is required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the welcoming face of MDTC, creating a positive first impression for students, families, industry partners, district employees and community guests.

  • Greet all visitors with professionalism, ensure proper visitor sign-in, and issue visitor badges in alignment with MDTC’s safety-first culture.
  • Supervise the main entrance and lobby area to maintain a secure, career-focused learning environment for all.
  • Guide guests confidently to designated areas, including Adult Career Development, Testing/Assessment Center, Conference Rooms, and other locations.
  • Proactively communicate with the Executive Director or Leadership Team regarding any visitor concerns, safety issues, or building activity.
  • Provide clear and courteous responses to basic MDTC questions—by phone or in person—representing MDTC’s high standards of customer service.
  • Manage phone calls with professionalism, ensuring accurate call transfers to the correct departments or staff.
  • Uphold MDTC checkout procedures, verifying parent/guardian authorization for student departures per policy.
  • Support the Student Services Team by accurately entering basic PowerSchool attendance information if needed.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
